How to trim your cat’s claws

/

Cat claws are an important tool for a cat’s survival and are very sharp. Cats that are domesticated for the purpose of catching mice should not have their claws trimmed. However, if the cat is used as a pet to play with, you should trim the cat’s foot claws frequently.

The method of trimming the cat’s foot and claw is very simple, hold the cat in your arms, use your left hand to fix the limb of the cat that you want to trim the claw, and press the cat’s fingertips a little harder to make the claw stick out. Hold the cat in your right hand and use nail clippers to cut off the cuticle at the front of the claw. Then smooth it with a nail file.

When trimming the claws, be careful not to cut off too much and accidentally injure the nerves and blood vessels of the cat’s toes, causing pain and bleeding and leading to the cat’s reluctance to trim its claws in the future.

Trimming the claws once a month will do, if you want to get rid of it once and for all, you can surgically remove all the forefoot claws when the cat is a kitten.
